The CoolMagic outdoor Air Source Heat Pump complements the Big Magic MVHR. It can cool or heat the supply air of the MVHR system for cooling and space heating purposes. However, it is much more than just combining a MVHR with a post heater: It is a holistic solution.

Through Big Magic’s Room-by-Room control with variable flow dampers on all 90mm ducting legs, the CoolMagic can prioritize cooled air for those rooms that start to overheat (e.g. South facing rooms). This makes the (up to 5.7kW) cooling output focussed and much more effective than a blanket approach with a cooling module.
We here at PAUL are designing Big Magic/ Cool Magic systems differently than standard MVHR systems to take the estimated heating and cooling demand per room into account. We allow for much more air flow into larger habitable rooms, so that more heating and cooling can be introduced.
The controls for the heating and cooling are fully integrated into the MVHR controls. Each habitable room has its own controller that measures CO2, humidity and temperature and adjusts the ventilaiton, heating and cooling accordingly. Additional panel heaters can be controlled from the same platform/ controller.
