True Demand Control

The freeAir 100 is a truely demand controlled MVHR system. Some systems, claiming to be demand controlled (DCV) only react to changes in the internal humidity level, which is a far too simplistic model. True demand control is based on at least two parameters: humidity (rH) and air quality (CO2).

The freeAir 100 adjusts its ventilation rate, according to an algorythm, which is based on three parameters:

  • Air quality (CO2) as per reading of the extract air
  • Humidity (rH) of the extract air –
  • Temperature of the extract air

It adjusts the extract air balance between the primary and secondary extract ports seperately, according to their seperate sensor readings.

Correctly set-up, the systems aims to keep the CO2 level in habitable rooms below 1000ppm.

Overall the MVHR unit has 8 sensors in-built: one for CO2, one for air pressure, two for humidity, and four for temperature.

Configurations of the freeAir 100

The freeAir 100 comes in three different configurations:

  • decentral system with no ducting: There is very little short circuiting of ventilation, as the extract port on the top is about 500mm away from the suply air port at the bottom and the supply air is blowing downwards.
  • freeAir 100 with extract ports at the top for 75 or 90mm semi-rigid ducting to a bathroom, en-suite, utility or kitchen.
  • freeAir 100 with supply and extract ports

External Wall Thickness

The MVHR unit is inserted into an external wall. The wall depth can range from 320mm to 580mm or more. If the wall is thinner, an inner frame has to be inserted.

Depending on the wall thickness (from finished outside to inside of plasterboard), different types of external combination grilles can be supplied:
– 400 – 530mm wall thickness: normal slim hood
– 350 – 400mm wall thickness: deep hood
– 320 – 400mm wall thickness: extra deep hood

All external grilles can be supplied in either white powder coating or stainless steel.

freeAir Connect Software

freeAir Connect Software

With your freeAir 100 and freeAir Plus devices you can download the monitoring software ‘freeAir Connect’ free of charge. The software is not needed for the normal functionality of the MVHR system, but it will show you the temperatures and humidity levels (intake, exhaust, supply and extract), the air quality of your internal air (measured in ppm CO2), as well as your current heat recovery rate and saved energy. A traffic light symbol shows you quickly of everything is working fine.

Besides the real data, the freeAir Connect can show also historic data in day or monthly format.

Wifi Connection

All new freeAir 100 and freeAir Plus devices from 2019 on (Software version 2.02) have got an integrated Wifi module. All older models need to be connected via cable to a computer.

Besides the monitoring functionality, you can choose your desired comfort ventilation level or turbo ventilation mode via app from your smart device.

The report function sends you emails about filter changes, upcoming services or faults. This function allows landlords and owners of holiday homes to know if the system is still working as normal.

Data protection is of utmost importance to us. Your freeAir 100 sends only fully encrypted data, which can only be accessed by your individual password. Data is sent only once per hour. You can choose to opt out of sending any data, by not activating the WLAN data.

The Wifi functionality of your freeAir 100 can be activated via USB cable and a laptop. If your WLAN router is in reach of the MVHR unit and has internet access, the connection to the BluMartin server will be established automatically. You can then open the app with any smart device (PC, laptop, tablet, smart phone) via www.freeAir-Connect.de . Almost all internet browser can be used, such as Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge und Safari. We recommend Chrome, if the Samsung browser does not work. Also Microsoft Edge is to be preferred over the Internet Explorer.
