Maintenance & Filter Changes

Maintenance of the bluMartin freeAir 100

The freeAir 100 MVHR units have got two filters of M5 grade installed: An intake filter and an extract filter, which keep the heat exchanger clean and keep the incoming air filtered.

Following video shows the filterchange – unfortunately it is in German – here are the main points to consider:

  1. Switch off the MVHR unit by pressing the metal pin on the right hand side of the unit.
  2. Keep a cloth handy, in case condensate drips off the unit, when pulling it out.
  3. Pull the freeAir 100 unit out of its shell by holding it on the sides (not the bottom of the front plate).
  4. Wipe with a cloth the inside of the shell, where the seal of the unit normally sits.
  5. Take out and replace the intake filter by slightly bending the metal clamps to the side (at the back of the unit).
  6. Take out and replace the extract filter on the side of the unit.
  7. Push the MVHR unit back into its shell. Make sure it is fully pushed back.
  8. While the unit is off keep the button on the front pressed, while switching on the unit (press pin on the r/h side) until a beep sounds – the unit is now in service mode.
  9. Switch the unit off again and wait until the lights have come off completely.
  10. Now the unit can be switched on, the filter timer is re-set.

Alternatively to the standard M5 filters, a F7 pollen filter is available for the air intake.

Software Updates

Please note that different freeAir generations need different software updates.

  • freeAir 100 systems with a serial numer of 15,000  or higher (software version 2.12) would need to have their software updated.
Please find the link to the update here: https://blumartin.de/downloads/software/
  • Older freeAir 100 units (Pre 2019 with serial number 14,999 or lower) cannot be updated.

How to update the software:

1. Switch off the freeAir 100 and wait until all LEDs are out.

2. Connect a PC, laptop or tablet with the MVHR unit via USB-A to USB Mini-B cable. Insert the USB connector as deep into the socket as possible.

3. Start the software „Update-freeAir“ on your PC, laptop or tablet.

4. Switch on the freeAir MVHR unit. it will show a blue flash light and ‘communication’ is shown in the DOS window.

Comment: Your freeAir 100 is only then ready for updating, if the device shows a yellow and red LED for a few seconds after it was switched on (boot phase). If these LED do not show, the software needs to be installed by the manufacturer.

5. Click ‘Update software’/ ‘Software aktualisieren’ and follow the instructions on the screen.

6. After the data transfer is finished, switch off the freeAir 100 unit and wait until all LEDs are dark (check if they are really dark). Only then switch the unit back on.
