Forth Valley College to partner with PAUL Heat Recovery for the provision of training for domestic ventilation

PAUL Heat Recovery is pleased to be partnering with Forth Valley College to provide domestic ventilation training courses to electricians, plumbers and ductwork installers. This will ensure the skills and knowledge of the more complex ventilation systems available to the market are improved.

The domestic ventilation market is seeing substantial growth across Scotland as awareness of the importance of indoor air quality (IAQ) and its contribution to peoples’ health continues to rise. Energy efficiency is also a driving factor as more sustainable technologies, in particular heat recovery ventilation, are being advised and stringent energy standards are implemented.

With this in mind, the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the ventilation system is extremely important. However, training on the installation of these systems, in particular the complex ducted systems, has not been sufficient which is reflected in the extraordinary number of faulty installations and performance gaps.

PAUL Heat Recovery has pioneered to offer accredited industry training since 2019 and are now delivering industry training on domestic ventilation in co-operation with Forth Valley College.  They are keen to deliver BPEC accredited training with additional content towards best practice and Passive House ventilation. The first of the courses will take place from the 22nd to the 24th of October.

Stefan Huber, Managing Director of PAUL Heat Recovery, comments: “I am quite excited about taking the training for domestic ventilation that we previously offered to the next level, as we co-operate with Forth Valley College. Such training is very much needed in our industry which lacks expertise in this area. We hope that we can develop a more specific course in conjunction with Forth Valley College and the Passivhaus Trust, which can be offered in other colleges across Scotland.”

Laura Fraser, Forth Valley College’s STC Project Manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with PAUL Heat Recovery to offer domestic ventilation training as part of the Skills Transition Centre. Our mission is to provide innovative, industry-aligned training that helps workers develop the skills needed for Scotland’s low-carbon future. By partnering with PAUL Heat Recovery, we are closing skills gaps, improving installation quality, and supporting the creation of healthier, more energy-efficient homes.”
